We began our journey January 2011 to meet the health care needs of Rowan and surrounding counties. three physicians, two physician assistants, and one nurse practitioner comprise our group for a combined total of over 150 years of clinical experience. We look forward to partnering with you for all of your health care needs.

Our Journey
Morehead Primary Care was founded January 1, 2011. Drs Christian and Nancy Weigel, the founders, moved to Morehead, KY in July of 1996 with a desire to help meet the health care needs of Eastern Kentucky. They were initially part of the Morehead Clinic.
When the Morehead Clinic became part of St. Claire in 2010, the Weigels embarked on
a God ordained mission to offer a private practice option for our patients. Our goal continued to be meeting the health care needs of Eastern Kentucky across all demographics.
When you enter our office, you see above the reception area “Ad Majorem dei Glorium” which means “For the greater glory of God”. We have done our best to live that in our lives and in our practice.
We have been incredibly blessed with hard working staff and providers. Some have come and gone on their journeys, but God has always provided new MPC family members to be part of our story.
Many have seen our logo. This was carefully chosen to represent our mission. The Cross represents our faith in all we do. The circles represent our desire to treat all – and to include you in the circle of our Morehead Primary Care Family. The blue colors represent calm, peace and healing. We hope and pray that you, as our patient, can find that too.
